TEEN PRIVACY, SIMPLIFIED

Trust & Safety @ BeMe

BeMe prioritizes youth wellbeing, privacy, and safety through thoughtful design. From our founding, we committed to building products for teens that exceed the standards set by regulators and outside groups. Why? Because we wanted to live our values right from the start.

Our Commitment

Our mission is to provide a safe space for teens to feel better, get support, stay on track, and have emotional support at their fingertips.

Privacy By Design

We take privacy and security very seriously at BeMe and design every feature with privacy in mind. We comply with all US privacy and data collection regulations, including the Children’s Online Privacy Act (COPPA).

Child Rights By Design

At BeMe, we strongly believe every child has rights that must be respected and upheld. As part of our commitment to this belief, we ensure that child rights are integrated into our products and policies.

Our mission is to support the mental health of teenagers by designing digital products and services that help realize children's rights. We use the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and Child Rights by Design (CRbD) as our guiding benchmarks to achieve this goal.

Designed With Teens

BeMe doesn’t just prioritize trust and safety for teens, we prioritize it with teens. Like all our work, we see the user as our core stakeholder. Our Teen Advisory Board members provide valuable feedback on app features, their thoughts on how technology affects their mental health, and how these features protect their privacy and wellness. Through co-design sessions, they provide invaluable feedback on features and perspectives on youth mental health and technology.

Plain Language Policies

We have taken measures to ensure that our Privacy Policy is easy for teenagers to understand their rights. This plain language policy enables them to comprehend what data we gather, how we use it, how we secure their privacy, and how they can contact us if they have any concerns. Additionally, we have translated our Privacy Policy into Spanish.

Data Privacy Standards

At BeMe, 100% of team members must complete the SuperAwesome KidAware Certificate, the leading training program on data privacy and safety standards for companies that work with youth data, within their first 30 days of employment. Our message to employees is simple: you are not fully onboarded and trusted to do your job until you can show you prioritize children’s trust and safety.

Protecting Your Personal Information

BeMe does not use your personal information to do targeted advertising or to make automated decisions about you, and BeMe does not sell, rent, or lease your personal information to third parties. We restrict access to data on a need-to-know basis, and everyone who works at BeMe must undergo a background check.

Child Safeguarding

Our Child Safeguarding Policy outlines what BeMe Health will do to keep children safe and sets out our unwavering commitment to protecting all children.
